About IFSCSearch
Welcome to IFSCSearch.in, a lightweight and distraction-free lookup utility designed to help you find and copy Indian banking codes instantly.
What is an IFSC Code?
The Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is an 11-character alphanumeric code assigned by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to uniquely identify every bank branch participating in the primary electronic fund transfer systems in India. This system is crucial for routing electronic payments, facilitating transactions such as NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer), RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement), and IMPS (Immediate Payment Service).
The structure of the code is strictly standardized: the first four characters are alphabetic letters representing the bank's name (e.g., 'SBIN' for State Bank of India), the fifth character is always a control digit zero ('0') reserved for future use, and the remaining six characters (which can be numbers or letters) uniquely identify the specific branch. Without a valid IFSC code, routing money electronically to a recipient branch in India is impossible.
Where does the data come from?
At IFSCSearch, we value transparency and data integrity above all. All the branch listings and bank details presented on this site are sourced from the official databases compiled and published by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
To make this information easily queryable and responsive, we leverage the community-audited Razorpay open-source IFSC dataset. This cooperative community project takes the raw, massive spreadsheets released by the RBI and normalizes them into structured formats suitable for real-time web lookups. By standing on the shoulders of these developer tools, we ensure you receive fast, reliable, and standardized results.
